Australia public service clean, survey says, but corruption experts sceptical
The federal bureaucracy in Australia reported the lowest level of suspected corruption in years, according to a survey by the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC). The survey, published in the latest State of the Service Report, found that just over 1 in 40 public servants (2.6 per cent) say they witnessed a colleague engage in behaviour serious enough to be viewed as corruption over the past year. Independent specialists reportedly doubt the apparent improvement, saying the APSC's survey "appeared designed to paint the bureaucracy in a good light".
