Philippine police chief to reply to graft charges only before Ombudsman

The National Police chief of the Philippines says he will answer allegations of corruption against him only before the Office of the Ombudsman. “The chief will answer the charges in the proper forum – that is the Ombudsman – in due time. [He]  will continue to perform [his] functions to serve and protect the people and will not be distracted by the emerging issues against him personally,” said a police spokesperson. The country's highest police official is accused of receiving donations for his official residence and obtaining a huge discount for a Toyota Land Cruiser.
