Pakistan govt audit alleges malpractices by Foreign Office, foreign missions

A news story says the recently released audit report on the accounts of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ Foreign Office prepared by the Auditor General of Pakistan has found “serious misappropriation of funds amounting to billions of rupees, including corruption, unauthorised expenditures, excess payments, illegal award of contracts, financial embezzlements and other malpractices”. One example cited is the construction of a chancery by Pakistan’s Embassy in Bahrain, which allegedly awarded “an illegal and unauthorised [construction contract worth] Rs 240 million in violation of the country’s Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules”.
