[ap-intact] INFO: Afghanistan’s $3.6 billion police problem - Broken systems and corruption

Since 2002, the international community has spent over $3.6 billion dollars on Afghan National Police (ANP) salaries, with the U.S. paying $1.3 billion of that tally. The U.S. will continue to spend $300 million annually on ANP salaries while U.S. forces reduce their presence on the ground. But those payments will continue without any guarantees the money is going where it’s supposed to, a new report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction [SIGAR] has found.
