Corruption in education sector inflicts Rp 619b state losses, says Indonesia Corruption Watch

In a report in The Jakarta Post, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) said corruption in the education sector resulted in financial losses of Rp 619 billion (US$50.5 million) from 2003 to 2013. “The number of graft practices in the education sector prosecuted by law enforcers from the police, prosecutors’ offices and the Corruption Eradication Commission [KPK] during those ten years reached 296 cases,” Febri Hendri, coordinator of ICW’s public service monitoring division, said as quoted by Antara news agency.
