[ap-intact] INFO: China rebuffed over UN move targeting NGOs

According to a news report by Channel News Asia, China was forced on Friday (Jan 30) to drop a measure at the United Nations (UN) that targeted non-governmental organisations (NGOs) seeking to be heard at the world body. China had proposed that the UN refrain from naming countries that criticize NGOs during meetings of a committee that decides which groups are accredited to the UN. The measure would have allowed China and other countries distrustful of NGOs to air their opposition without being singled out in any UN public report.
