Indonesian anti-graft agency says House of Reps hinders efforts to battle corruption

The head of Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abraham Samad, said the House of Representatives (DPR) had weakened efforts to eradicate corruption in the country when it approved legislation that effectively gave impunity to its members. The DPR has approved the amendment to the Law on MPR (People’s Consultative Assembly), DPR, DPRD (Regional Legislative Council), and DPD (Regional Representatives Council) - known as UU MD3. "By approving the amendment to the law, which protects itself, it shows that DPR has no will to combat corruption," Abraham said.
