Flawed mining contracts causes corruption in Afghanistan

transfer of mining contracts from one hand to another and merging of
the exploration and excavation process of natural reservoirs are fueling
corruption in the mining sector, economic and mining experts said. The
concerns have been raised after the Lower House of parliament approved
the new mining draft. The draft is currently debated by Upper House.
Some civil society organizations and natural resources watchdogs were
also concern about the move of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to
jointly push forward the exploration and excavation process and let the
mining contract go from one hand to another.
