Korea launches anti-corruption task force after ferry accident

The Korean government launched a task force to root out corruption as it struggles to contain the fallout from April's sinking of a ferry that left more than 300 people dead or missing. The prime minister's office said the anti-corruption body will mainly deal with uncovering and analyzing corruption cases as well as coming up with ways to tackle the problem. The task force is staffed with 35 government officials from various investigative bodies including the prosecution, the anti-trust agency and the national tax agency. The new team will also run a special telephone line for citizens to report corruption, it added.
