DSI freezes properties worth B85m in graft probe.  “A freeze has been ordered on 78 tracts of land and buildings allegedly acquired using money defrauded from a State Railway of Thailand [SRT] savings cooperative, according to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI)… Investigators linked the embezzled funds were linked to a network of officials led by a former SRT club executive.”

Corruption has become deeply pervasive, says Madras HC.  “The Madras High Court…directed the [Indian] State government to apprise it of the structure of vigilance and anti-corruption mechanism set up in the State, the extent of work done by the officials concerned in the last three financial years and the degree of independence accorded to the Vigilance Commissioner and the Directorate.”
