[ap-intact] INFO: Mongolia to host 13th Regional Seminar of the ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific

[Facilitator’s note: Thank you to Liviana Zorzi, UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, for sharing this information.]

“Tackling Corruption in Development Projects” is the theme of the 13th Regional Seminar of the ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific, organized in cooperation with United Nations Development Programme. The event is hosted by the Government of Mongolia and will take place in Ulaanbaatar, on 19-20 November 2015.

Transparency, accountability, and integrity are key determining factors for sustainable development. Prevention of corruption in development projects is a major challenge for all actors involved, including development partners, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society.

Regional and international experts will discuss constraints, challenges, and strategies to tackle corruption in development projects, and learn from experiences of all the stakeholders who have an interest in ensuring that project implementation is not derailed by corruption and that funds reach intended beneficiaries.

In parallel to the Regional Seminar, a “Pilot Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Law Enforcement Practitioners Network” will be held. This closed meeting, supported by German Development Co-operation (GIZ),  is intended for a limited number of participants only, who will discuss practical aspects of enforcement and tracing illicit financial flows.  Findings from this meeting will be presented in the second day of the Regional Seminar on 20 November.

Further information on participation and an invitation to attend can be requested through Ms. Marilyn Pizarro at the Secretariat of the ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific (Tel. +63 2 632 5917 ; e-mail: mpizarro.consultant@adb.org ).
