Call to make graft 'taboo' in Thailand
The secretary-general of Thailand’s People's Network Against Corruption said drastic measures to make corruption socially unacceptable must be a key element of national reform. Veera Somkwamkid said graft is rampant because perpetrators face no consequences and can easily buy their way out of trouble. He argued that people must view corruption as a "high-risk practice" because the benefits of engaging in fraudulent acts currently outweigh any negative repercussions.
