Rampant corruption in villages caused by incompetence, says Indonesia Corruption Watch.  ICW researcher Wana Alamsyah said there was a phenomenon it called “local elite capture” in which leaders at the village level misused village funds disbursed from the central government.

Indonesia pushes for long-delayed asset recovery bill.  The Corruption Eradication Commission and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center are pushing for several anti-corruption bills to be passed into laws, including the asset recovery bill, which allows the state to recover proceeds from a crime.
