COOK ISLANDS:
Opposition leader Bishop stands trial next month. Cook
Islands Opposition leader and Aitutaki MP Teinakore Bishop will stand
trial in a high profile case at the Cook Islands High Court next
month.
SAMOA:
PM defends tax haven role. Samoa's
Prime Minister has defended its role as an offshore tax haven, claiming
the ravages of climate change have left the islands increasingly
reliant on the revenue it brings.
VANUATU:
PM Salwai calls for stronger commitment to manage tuna resource. Vanuatu's
Prime Minister says Forum island leaders will need to make a stronger
commitment to improve the management responsibility of their tuna
fishery if Pacific islands Forum Fisheries Agency members are to
continue to enjoy the benefits of their valuable tuna resource.
FIJI:
Office of the DPP is independent and non-political. The
Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde says the Office of
the DPP is a constitutional office of the State established under the
Constitution, and is an independent and non-political office.
'A-G not fit to deliver'. Shadow
minister for defence and public enterprise and trade, Mosese Bulitavu,
says Finance Minister and Attorney-Generalz Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is not
fit to deliver quality service to the various ministries and departments
under his portfolios.
