Bhutan to host 2016 ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific


The Royal Government of Bhutan will host this year three major anti-corruption events under the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific, a joint programme of Asian Development Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (ADB/OECD).

To be held 8-10 November 2016, in Le Méridien, Thimphu, the overall theme of the events is "Development with Values: Social Fence against Corruption".

The events are co-organised by the ADB/OECD Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia and the Pacific Secretariat and the Royal Government and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Bhutan in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and United Nations Development Programme.

List of events:

21st Steering Group Meeting. 8 November 2016.  The meeting will present recent reports of the OECD Anti-Corruption Network in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and Integrity Reviews of Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Indonesia. It will present recent anti-corruption work and future priorities by the Anti-Corruption Commission of Bhutan, other member countries, Observers, Advisory Group, and the Secretariat. 14th Regional Seminar. 9-10 November 2016. The seminar has two main sections. The first is on the Anti-Corruption Agency Strengthening Initiative, which will explore the key elements of an anti-corruption reform agenda and how anti-corruption agencies can maximize their leverage for anti-corruption reforms in the government. The second is on Improving the Integrity and Coordination among Law Enforcement Authorities, which will be an exchange of views on improving the integrity and coordination among law enforcement authorities, including a session on "Effective Coordination and Information Exchange in Financial Investigation and Asset Recovery". 2nd Law Enforcement Network (LEN) Meeting. 9-10 November 2016.  The meeting will be held in parallel with the Regional Seminar. The meeting will provide a forum for practicing law enforcement practitioners from the region to learn from each other about modern effective methods of detecting, investigating, and prosecuting corruption offences based on real-life cases in a confidential manner.
